St John of God Health Choices

St of God Health Choices was formed by St John of God Health Care on 1 July 2009 to incorporate and expand the group’s existing home nursing services.

St John of God Health Choices is a division of St John of God Health Care, which is a leading provider of private hospitals, pathology, and Social Outreach and Advocacy services, throughout Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region.

We return all profits to the communities we serve by:

1. Updating and expanding technology and facilities
2. Expanding existing services and acquiring new services
3. Providing Social Outreach and Advocacy services to people experiencing disadvantage

On 3 May 2010, St John of God Health Care acquired M&M HealthPower Nursing Services, a service successfully started in the 1990s by two nurses, Barbara Anne Merrigan and Wendy Martin, whose careers had previously been in home nursing.

Previously a Registered Business called Martin & Merrigan, the business became an incorporated entity in 2000 called M&M HealthPower Pty Ltd and subsequently relocated operations to new offices in Canterbury from which St John of God Health Choices (Melbourne) now operates.

To meet the growing needs of the community St John of God Health Choices is constantly evaluating and adapting administrative and clinical infrastructure to ensure the highest level of care is provided to patients and families in the community.

St John of God Health Choices is now one of the largest providers of in-home health care services in Melbourne. With a proud tradition of expertise in providing nursing and personal care services that assist people and promote independence and interdependence in the home environment, we provide:

• Application of compression stockings

• General nursing care
• Pain management

We are a provider for major health agencies including: Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA) – self referral accepted; Traffic Accident Commission (TAC); Victorian WorkCover Authority (VWA); Ambulance Victoria; and public and private hospitals.

Services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
